This is because comprehensive insurance may cover non-collision damage. However, coverage of rodent damage will vary, so check if your insurance company provides it.  

If they do, document the rodent damage when filing a claim. Make sure to take pictures showing apparent rodent damage. Once the documentation is in order, your provider will send a claims adjuster or drive you to the nearest pre-approved auto repair shop for a vehicle inspection.  The mechanic will then give you the cost of repairs which you can attach to your claim.
