Motorcycles are more than just two-wheeled vehicles. To some, they are precious iron steeds which allows them to destress and travel. To others, it can be an indispensable mode of transportation due to its utility, fuel consumption, and secure handling. However, disaster can strike, regardless of our safe and defensive biking. Consider getting insurance for your motorcycle. Collision Insurance
As with cars, collision insurance is a must for motorcycles. In an event your motorcycle suffered damage during a collision, the company pays out for the damage minus your deductible amount. That means it’s deducted from the claim check when you have chosen your policy. The collision can be due to another vehicle or objects. Comprehensive Insurance This insurance covers damage that is not from a collision. These damages may result from vandalism or bad weather like hail. However, this does not include your bike’s typical sequence of wear and tear on its parts. Personal Injury Protection This covers you, your passengers, or any pedestrians that might be unfortunately be included in the accident regardless of who may have caused it. Coverage for Custom Parts The usual scenario is that custom parts are not insured in a collision or a comprehensive insurance policy. However, some people souped-up their bikes, making it almost made entirely from custom parts. Luckily, there are insurance companies that now cover custom parts. Custom parts can be expensive, and losing a component may also be financially draining. In such an event, have your custom parts insured individually. Roadside Assistance This insurance can be handy, especially if you’re planning a trip coast to coast. This would handle any towing and labor costs if your bike broke down. You may also want to have a trip interruption coverage to save you some money on accommodation, in case your motorcycle broke down. Discounts Discounts are also available for insurance. Due to the high rates of accidents from motorcycles, insurance coverage is usually expensive or unavailable to them. But individual companies may offer some discounts. There is no full coverage insurance for the bike. Only multiple policies bound in the bike will make it somewhat fully insured in itself. Having a good driving record, how long have you been riding, and if you belong to a riding club increases the chances of a discount. Some companies also have a tie-up to ensure another type of property, so you may also check this out. Thanks for pointing out that collision insurance is a must for motorcycles. My husband is planning to buy a motorcycle in January. I guess I should urge him to look for the best motorcycle insurance that can cover accidents or damage for our peace of mind.
